Our History
80 Years of Sleepaway Camp in Minnehaha Springs, West Virginia
There is a rich history in Minnehaha Springs, where Camp Twin Creeks is located.
We are on the traditional land of the Moneton and Powhatan people, who stewarded Minnehaha Springs and the surrounding land for generations. The natural spring that is so important to our Camp population was just as revered by the Moneton and Powhatan people, and its name translates to “Laughing Blue Water.” The spring provides us with all of our water on camp!
There was a wonderful hotel and resort on the property in the early 1900’s, and we honor this part of our history by serving the hotel’s most famous dish as our Banquet Meal… Chicken and Waffles!
Camp Minnehaha opened in 1944 as an all boys sleepaway camp. While much has changed since Camp Twin Creeks opened in 2001, we are grateful to be able to enjoy many of the same original structures as Camp Minnehaha to this day. We also honor its history by naming Worth Hall after the directors of Camp Minnehaha, and creating a new Minnehaha Museum in our Theater.
25 Years of Camp Twin Creeks
Summer 2025 marks our 25th summer as Camp Twin Creeks, and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!

Over the last 25 years, we’ve loved welcoming groups of campers and counselors from the DC area and beyond, and each one has contributed to the Camp Twin Creeks we know and love today. Our history keeps growing with each new summer, thanks to all the amazing people who’ve joined in our traditions—like the Olympics, Fuzzies, and our own twist on Country Roads. We couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible community that makes Twin Creeks what it is today!

Meet Our Directors
As parents to Harrison (18), Finnley (14), Blakeley (10) and camp dogs Chloë and Ember, Amy and Iain understand the feeling of entrusting another with your child. They strive to ensure that your child is looked after, supported and guided by our wonderful camp counselors. Even though they cannot be in every cabin or at every activity, the standards they set, the energy they display and the passion they have for summer camp is shared with every single staff member. Learn more about our Youth Development Philosophy.
Iain works full-time in our main office as Director whilst Amy is a Masters-educated entrepreneur and has been in the education and childcare field for over 20 years. Both are available at all times to answer your calls and questions about your child and camp.
This leadership team, along with head counselors and administrative staff who have grown up with us over many summers, sets us apart from other camps in the industry. They all offer experience, continuity, knowledge and a level of child care that ensures your child is in safe hands and will truly enjoy their time at Camp Twin Creeks.
