At Twin Creeks, we know that camp is more than just a place—it’s where friendships bloom, love stories begin, and lifelong memories are made. For 25 years, our community has grown not only in numbers but in heart. The relationships that have formed here are the very core of what makes this place special, and they’re a reminder that community is the antidote to loneliness.
It’s easy to think of camp as just a summer retreat—a few weeks filled with activities, laughter, and outdoor fun. However, when we look at the story of Twin Creeks, we see something much deeper. We see how Camp has been a place where bonds are forged that last a lifetime. It’s where campers have crossed oceans to reunite, friends who met at the age of 10 are now standing as maid of honor at each other’s weddings, and counselors who met here now send their children back to experience the same magic.
These stories are more than just feel-good moments; they are a testament to what Camp can create. It’s the connections—unexpected and lasting—that help fill the spaces where loneliness can linger. At Twin Creeks, we’ve built a family, and in doing so, we’ve created a safe haven for all who walk and drive our country roads.
The magic of Camp isn’t just in the activities or the campfire songs—it’s in the friendships, the love stories, and the sense of belonging that grows with every passing year. As we celebrate 25 years of Twin Creeks, we’re reminded that community isn’t something that happens overnight. It’s built through shared experiences, moments of vulnerability and moments of pride, it’s being supported by someone and offering support to where needed.
We’re more than just a camp. We are a family, and no matter where life takes us, Twin Creeks will always be home.
Guest Essay: The Quirins
When I think back at my time at Camp Twin Creeks, it’s clear that it wasn’t just a place to have new experiences- it is where my family was truly built. What started out as a friendship at ages 19 & 20 as camp counselors at Camp Twin Creeks led to a marriage of almost 13 years. My husband and I always attribute the success of our marriage to the foundation of friendship that was built in the community that this special camp provides where lasting bonds were formed, friendships were nurtured, and the spirit of being present and together without the crutch of technology was fostered. |
Now, we get to share that special community with our children who are camp twin creeks campers. Watching our children build their own connections, learn, develop independence, and grow in this environment brings us a deep sense of fulfillment. It’s a reminder that the connections we make in spaces like this echo through generations, creating memories that will last long after the weeks spent there. The more our generations change, the deeper our family’s appreciation for the effortless and authentic community that this special place creates. -Betsy Quirin |
